Product description
This recall involves all GY Sports hockey helmets, face protectors, and goalie masks. The products have the "GY" logo on them.
The hockey helmets were sold on their own and as a combination product with a face protector. The hockey helmets come in both adult and youth sizes and in colours of black, white, blue, and red.
The face protectors include full face cages, full shields, and visors.
The goalie masks come in both black and white with cat eye cages.
These products were sold by GY Sports, Gorilla Scales Canada, and independent third party sellers on Amazon.ca.
Hazard identified
None of the GY Sports branded hockey helmets, face protectors, and goalie masks are certified to CSA standards. As a result, the helmets could fail to prevent head injuries during an event, posing a hazard to consumers.
As of April 29, 2019 neither the sellers nor Amazon has received any reports of incidents in Canada and no reports of injury.
Number sold
Approximately 65 units of hockey helmets, 2,519 units of face protectors, and 28 units of goalie masks were sold by GY Sports or Gorilla Scales Canada on Amazon.ca.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from August 2016 to March 2019.
