Funky Chunky, LLC of Eden Prairie, MN is recalling 10 oz Nutty Choco Pop Gift Box, 50 oz. Holiday Crowd Pleaser and 50 oz. Crowd Pleaser, because it may contain undeclared Almond and Cashew Tree Nut. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Almonds and Cashews run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Product was distributed to AZ, AL, CA, CO CT, DC, DE, FL GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI and WY through mail order or direct delivery.

The product impacted with an undeclared allergen on the label can be found in a 10 oz. clear bag labeled Funky Chunky Nutty Choco Pop found in the 10 oz Nutty Choco Pop Gift Box (lot code 8K30), 50 oz. Holiday Crowd Pleaser (lot code 8K29) and 50 oz. Crowd Pleaser (lot code 8K13, 8k27, 8L04, 8L04, 8L07 and 8L11).

One allergic reaction was reported.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered by a consumer that product containing Almond and Cashew tree-nut was distributed in packaging that was mislabeled and did not reveal the presence of Almond and Cashew tree-nut.

We are notifying all customers that purchased products with the above lot codes, so they can discard the product that they have on-hand. Funky Chunky, LLC will replace the 10 oz. Ottawa, December 10, 2018 - The food recall warning issued on November 9, 2018 has been updated to include additional product information. This additional information was identified during the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) food safety investigation.

Canada Herb is recalling Canada Herb brand culantro (Ngò Gai) from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled product described below.

What you should do

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.

Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

This product may have been sold in clear plastic bags bearing the name Canada Herb or may have been repackaged or sold in bulk without a label or coding. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to contact their retailer.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 11, 2012 - Whole Foods Market is recalling its variety cupcake six-packs sold in stores in Northern California because some of the products contain undeclared walnuts. One illness has been reported to date, and people who have allergies to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Whole Foods Market cupcake six-packs sold in Northern California included several flavors of cupcake, including chocolate, red velvet, and vanilla in addition to carrot cake. Only the carrot cake cupcakes contain walnuts. Six-packs that do not contain carrot cake cupcakes are NOT affected by this recall.
The recalled cupcakes were sold at stores in Folsom, Lafayette, Los Altos, Mill Valley, Novato, Palo Alto, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Rosa and Sonoma.
The cupcake six-packs came in clear, plastic clamshell containers. The recall includes all expiration packed on dates prior to May 10th 2012. Customers who have purchased these products may return them to the store for a full refund.
Signage is posted in affected Whole Foods Market stores to notify customers of this recall.
The necessary corrections have been made for the cupcake six-packs currently for sale.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 24, 2011 - Ian’s is voluntarily recalling specific lot numbers of two products due to a risk of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The following two products with the specific use-by dates and UPC codes listed are being recalled because they may have been distributed to retailers nationwide and sold in the frozen foods section of the supermarket:

• 8-ounce boxes of Ian’s Wheat Free, Gluten Free Mac and No Cheese with a use-by date of 26Aug2011 and UPC code 7-49512-43670-8 (372 packages impacted)
• 8-ounce boxes of Ian’s Wheat Free, Gluten Free French Bread Pizza with a use-by date of 28Aug2011 and UPC code 7-49512-91572-2 (120 packages impacted)

A total of 492 individual boxes are potentially affected.

Consumers who purchased the above products with the specific use-by dates and UPC codes listed are asked to return the products to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. Products that do not contain the specific use-by dates and UPC codes listed are notaffected by the recall, and can be used by consumers.

This recall is related to a voluntary recall from J & D Produce Edinburg, Texas which packs under the Little Bear Brand Cilantro, Curly Parsley, and Italian Plain Parsley. This product was purchased and shipped on Dec 6, 2010 to Boncheff Greenhouses where it was repacked and distributed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - LOS ANGELES, CA, DECEMBER 8, 2010 – Mojave Foods Corporation is initiating a recall of sixty (60) packages of El Guapo Shelled Walnuts 1 OZ, date code 5527, manufactured with walnuts supplied by Atlas Walnuts, Visalia, California, because we were advised by the supplier that the ingredient has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The company is working with the FDA to inform consumers of this recall, and no illnesses have been reported to date.

Salmonella, is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The lot in question, 118122, was distributed to two retail store chains in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Both chains were provided with case tag identification and have been advised of the recall. Frontera Produce is issuing this voluntary recall as an additional measure to advise consumers to destroy the cilantro described above, purchased between July 20, 2009 and July 27, 2009. The cilantro bunches in question have a white twist tie with pink lettering spelling the word 'Cilantro' and the UPC number 033383801049.

The recall involves only one lot of cilantro and does not involve any other products.

This product originated in Mexico and was procured by Frontera Produce, who subsequently routinely tested for contaminants as part of their internal food safety program.

Company Recalls Various Products Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

Plainview Milk Products Cooperative, Plainview, Minn., is voluntarily recalling instant nonfat dried milk, whey protein, fruit stabilizers, and gums (thickening agents) that it has manufactured over the past two years, because they might be contaminated with Salmonella. The company sells these products to other industry customers, including distributors and manufacturers, who may have incorporated them into their own products. None of Plainview’s products were sold directly to the public.

Plainview has stopped production of these products and has notified its customers of the recall. Currently, the Plainview recall is limited to industry customers who received suspect product.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the FDA will update the public as new information emerges. At this time, the FDA is not aware of products being recalled at the consumer level.

"This recall is an appropriate precaution to protect public health,” said David W.K. Acheson, M.D., associate commissioner for foods in the Food and Drug Administration. “It reflects the concerted efforts of numerous partners at the local, state, and federal levels."

During an investigation of the Plainview facility, FDA found that some of the equipment was contaminated with Salmonella. At this time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not linked any human illnesses to potentially contaminated products from the Plainview facility.

The FDA became aware of this problem through the U. S. Department of Agriculture. USDA found Salmonella in Dairyshake powder, in 100-gram pouches that were not for retail sale. The FDA began an investigation as to the source of the contamination. In the course of that investigation, Plainview Milk Products was identified as a supplier of a key ingredient in the Dairyshake powder. Inspection of the firm uncovered conditions that resulted in the broader recall.

The FDA is conducting this investigation in collaboration with USDA, CDC, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and state and local health departments.

FDA investigators are working to track the distribution of the Plainview ingredients to identify additional products that contain the recalled ingredients.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weak immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Most healthy people recover from Salmonella infections without treatment. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections (infected aneurysms), infection of the lining of the heart, and arthritis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 26, 2009 – City Baking LLC, of Long island City, NY is recalling 781 individually wrapped City Baking brand Apple Crumb Cakes, because they contain Walnuts, which were inadvertently omitted from the label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Walnuts run the risk of serious or life threatening illness if they consume these products.

The product was distributed to 31 accounts in the following states: New York,, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Maine. It was shipped by UPS directly from City Baking’s only warehouse, in Long Island City, NY.

The individually wrapped City Baking brand Apple Crumb Cakes can be identified by a bag code, either #161 or 169 and UPC # 854142000165. The product is 3 ¼ oz, and is packaged in a transparent plastic wrap.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The problem was identified on June 25, 2009 when an anonymous caller from Boston contacted City Baking LLC to inform them that the City Baking brand Apple Crumb Cake ingredient label did not list Walnuts as an ingredient, but walnuts were clearly present in the product. A subsequent investigation by City Baking LLC of the label indicated that Walnuts were not listed due to a temporary breakdown in the company’s labeling procedures; this was attributed to the introduction of a new label software program installed within the last 6 months. The label has since been corrected.

We suggest any consumers who still have the product to return it to City Baking LLC for a full refund, or call us at 718-392-8514, between 7:30AM and 4PM Eastern Time, and then destroy it. Please call City Baking LLC with any questions, or concerns.
