Hamilton Beach Recalls Toasters Due To Fire Hazard In Canada

The toaster recall that was announced in the USA by CPSC has extended to Canada.

TORONTO — Hamilton Beach Brands Canada is voluntarily recalling some 40,000 toasters because of a possible fire hazard.

The toasters, which carry the Hamilton Beach name, could remain energized after popping and ignite flammable materials left on top of the unit.

The company says there have been no reports of fire or injury.

The recall involves specific models purchased in Canada between August 2007 and January 2008.

Consumers can register for the recall online at www.hamiltonbeach.ca or by calling 1-800-267-2826. They are asked to not return the toaster to the store where they purchased it because retailers are unable to take them back.

Anyone with a recalled toaster, based on information found at the bottom of the unit, will receive another toaster free of charge.
